The Truth Isn't Part of Obama's Plan

Published in the Keene Sentinel January 20, 2010

To the editor,

Perhaps many of you have been left wondering about some of the recent pronouncements from our president.  They have an air of unreality, disconnected from events in the real world, and unrelated to, or at odds with, what he has said on prior occasions.

The most recent example that comes to mind: “we will not rest until we find all who were involved”.  Then he “rests” (even if we can't) by turning the terrorist over to an attorney.

If this strikes you as a disconnect, it should, but it has a simple explanation.  When most of us lie, we go through a two-stage process.  First we think of the truth, then we think of how to evade, or shade, it.

But there are people who respond by skipping right past this first step (the truth).  Their response is constructed carefully.  It's what they think you want to hear.  As a result, any comparison between the truth and their response is purely coincidental.  Such people fall in category of “pathological liars”.  They are artful at lying, and lying is fundamental to their nature.

So when you hear our liar-in-chief make outrageous statements that leave you puzzled, it isn't that he has checked the truth, and then decided how to “shade” it.  The truth never entered his mind.

There are some things for example that he says regularly.  He says his health CONTROL bill will cover everybody, cover them better, and still cost less.  When you wonder how he can say that, just remember, he isn't even thinking of what the facts are, he assumes you want to hear his BS.  And the truth be damned.

And when you hear Janet Napolitano say “the system worked” you can only smirk and wonder if the disease is spreading to his associates.

But the frosting on the cake was the video of candidate Obama telling us he wanted the debate on his health control bill covered on C-Span.  One of the videos was made at the Keene Sentinel (KEENE SENTINEL prominently displayed on the wall behind him).  I'm waiting for the Sentinel to cry FOUL.
