“Does Obama get the whole 'threat' thing?”
Published in the Keene
Sentinel January 2, 2010
Maybe it's my
imagination. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. No Islamic
terrorist attacks on America in the 7 years under George Bush. But
two Islamic terrorist attacks in the first year under Barack Obama.
The first cost over a dozen lives and many more wounded. The
second, but for a faulty firing pin, would have killed 300 in the air
and possibly thousands more on the ground. And our president is
unable to accept the obvious, namely that we are at war with Islamic
terrorists.
There's a saying I
learned as I grew up, “The best defense is a good offense”. It's
meaning applies generally, but when your enemy consists of a bunch of
cowards, who sneak around killing defenseless people and wear no uniform
to identify themselves, the usual defensive measures no longer work.
You don't wait until after the event to “prosecute” terrorists (only the
unsuccessful ones, of course) in civilian courts. The approach
taken by adults in such circumstances is to “go get em”. Only a
child, or a very immature adult, would believe that turning the other
cheek was the proper response. Now that we've turned both facial
cheeks, will two kicks on the other cheeks be enough?
Obama is
(politically??) unable to call this a “war on terror”. And he
missed nary one round of golf because of the Christmas day attack.
Maybe it's just
coincidence, zero in seven years versus two in 11 months. Not
significant statistically? Or is there a message here?
Could our president use a hearing aid?
